a hiking we will go

while in northern michigan we took advantage of the nature trails and went on a hike.  we had lessons in compass reading, bird and plant identification, and noah and mya INSISTED they saw a rabbit.  with antlers.  and it was huge.
oma and opa with all the grandkids
ari handling a snake at the nature center

all the kids smiling for grandma's camera, but i couldn't resist taking one from my point of view

oh the things we'll do...when we go to michigan!

simultaneously solve maze puzzles with cousin derek at a cabin in northern michigan
ride a two-seater dinosaur toy at one of the many parks we played at
have a fierce match of rack-o with auntie kim, or a round of guess-who with oma, or love your neighbor with all your cousins, or uno with whoever will play

welcome to the world!

i have twelve, yes 12 friends or family members who are having babies between the months of july and november. craziness! this means my gifty wheels have been turnin. i love creating personalized things and especially for little ones who have just been given their name.

sonny's cousin irene and her born to be a daddy husband jason just had their first little one, jaida (yes those are actually her tiny feet in the pic above).

i just finished and sent off a little something to commemorate this once in a lifetime occasion...

we're baaack!

we pulled into the driveway late friday night after 15 1/2 hours of driving from grand rapids, mi to oklahoma city, ok.  we had 14 days packed with activity, fun, and special people.  great memories were made and captured on film, but because of the ancient, i mean, vintage computer my parents have i was too frustrated to load them and blog while we were there.  this week will be "vacation in review" as i recap all the great times that were had.  just pretend these were posted in "real time".

our first day in town was spent at gun lake where my aunt cheri and uncle ken have a cottage.  their adult sons, brad and matt are experts at giving everyone a good time and my boys were no exception.  noah "drove" a pontoon and speed boat, ari rode a jetski, both swam and delighted in being "thrown" into the water.
ari roasted his first hotdog over the fire

and noah helped brad dig the hole for the new fire pit.

wishin, hopin...

we were watching nickelodean (my parents have cable so this is exciting for the boys!) and a commercial came on for oxi clean. as the clothes were being swished around in the water and the stains magically dissolving ari matter-of-factly said "i wish i was a shirt so i could swim in the washer."

needless to say i busted up laughing at my son who has been dubbed "the fish" as we cannot get him out of the water. amidst my laughter he smiled and said "are you gonna put that on your blog?"

on the road again....

yes, i could just wait to get on the road again....but my boys need an oma fix.  bad.  so off we go.  tomorrow, at the crack of dawn.  the two boys and me.  by myself.  14 hours.  yes, i'm crazy.  the memories will be worth it.

so, i haven't been blogging and kept you totally in the dark about my life and now i'm gonna jump in the deep end and tell you too much!  if you don't care to know or if you are of the male persuasion, you can stop reading now.

if you're curious and/or are female, i wanted to let you know i have followed the example of my favorite person i've never met-christine-and purchased a diva cup.  i must concur with her-it's great!   i will stop there for fear of scaring you away, but if you've ever wondered, or considered, i'd be happy to give you more details.  if not, just pretend you never read this:)

happy birthday america!

the boys participated in the nichols hills 4th of july parade with their bike and scooter.  ari was very excited to see all the red, white, and blue-even pointing out the police car lights-celebrating america's big day.

as for my extreme lack of blogging....i DON'T know what's going on.  i'm trying to figure out where my love of this has gone.  i'm not ready to quit yet, though.  maybe i just need a little time off.  thanks for still reading and caring!
